No, not all of the surgeries performed by Dr. Ishee require a patient to be placed under general anesthesia. There are many procedures and surgeries that can be performed under local anesthesia or a combination of local anesthesia, sedation, and/or tumescent anesthesia.

For example, Dr. Ishee performs “twilight liposuction” which is liposuction performed safely with the assistance of local anesthesia, tumescent anesthesia, and sedation. The patient is not “put to sleep” or placed on a breathing machine (ventilator) during the surgery. The patient remains awake yet comfortable and appropriately medicated allowing them to undergo the procedure while still being able to breathe easily and safely on their own.

Large surgeries and surgeries with multiple combined procedures do require a patient be placed under general anesthesia.
